Free "Basic Street Skills" Bicycle Safety Classes for Adults / 2008-09-25    

Cyclists are the most vulnerable users of public roads; this free class will teach you how to ride and drive defensively and avoid road rage behaviors.  All classes are held at Marin General Hospital Conference Center, 250 Bon Air Road, Greenbrae.  Course offerings in 2008 are:

Intersection Safety Training Workshop / 2008-10-23    

The Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program is sponsoring an intersection safety training workshop in San Rafael on Thursday, October 23, 2008.  Transportation and safety engineers, planners, and public works directors are encouraged to attend.  Cost per attendee is only $100. 

Workshop Features:

  • Predict the number of crashes for an intersection based upon traffic volumes
  • Identify high-crash intersections and recognize appropriate engineering countermeasures
  • Safety performance of intersection geometric design features
  • Highway lighting and traffic signal countermeasures and associated safety benefits
  • Regulatory, warning, and guide signing and markings countermeasures
