The Marin County Safe Routes to School program has been selected as one of four recipients sharing the 2010 Grand Award given by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) in recognition of their efforts toward "Transportation Education for the Next Generation".

In their Fall 2010 newsletter, the MTC acknowledges that "the Marin model of SR2S has sparked a national movement," since its beginning ten years ago.  Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) has managed the Marin Safe Routes program since 2004.
