Open House for Hwy 101 "Gap Closure" project, 7/24
On July 24, 2007, at the San Rafael Community Center, the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will jointly host an informational open house regarding the fourth and final segment of the Highway 101 Gap Closure Project in Marin County.
This project includes the construction of northbound and southbound HOV lanes by widening the highway in the westward direction. The project will reconstruct the existing west soundwall providing sound absorbing material on both west and east soundwalls, relocate the SMART railroad tracks where necessary to accommodate freeway widening, install retaining walls, improve the ramps at Lincoln Avenue, and incorporate a 1.2 mile multi-use path. Construction is scheduled to begin in Summer 2007.
