Marin agencies receive $1.7 M from Caltrans for schools
Caltrans has awarded Safe Routes to School grants to local jurisdictions for projects to benefit four Marin schools:
County of Marin: Tam Valley School - widen and improve sidewalk and improve crosswalk along Marin Avenue
Town of San Anselmo: San Anselm and Wade Thomas Schools - provide sidewalk, curb ramps and high-visibility crosswalks, slow traffic and fix intersection
City of San Rafael: Sun Valley School - improved pathway along Happy Lane
Town of Tiburon: Del Mar Middle School - 18 upgraded crosswalks, curb ramps, and new traffic controls near the school
The Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) Safe Routes to Schools program assisted all of these communities in developing the plans for their grant application. See the Caltrans Safe Routes to School web site for the statewide list of projects receiving funds.
