SMART passage means more pathways in Marin
On Election Day this Tuesday, Marin and Sonoma County voters approved plans for the SMART (Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit) passenger train and pathway project to connect Cloverdale and Larkspur. The measure received 69.5% support in the two counties.
The 70-mile train line, which will parallel Highway 101, will be accompanied by a bicycle/pedestrian pathway, linking the Wine Country with Marin, and on to San Francisco (via the Larkspur Ferry). Construction is expected to begin in 2011 and completed in 2014.
