BAAQMD to provide $210,000 for projects beginning summer 2009

On Tuesday, December 16, the Marin County Board of Supervisors voted to approve seven new bicycle projects as part of the County's high-priority projects within the County Bicycle Network. The $210,000 in funding for these projects is being provided by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) out of the Regional Transportation Funds for Clean Air Bicycle Facility Program.

The following projects will likely be started during the summer of 2009:
  • Bon Air Road, Sir Francis Drake South, for 0.1 miles (Class 2)
  • Donahue Street, Marin City off-ramp for 0.2 miles (Class 2)
  • Atherton Avenue, Binford/Armstrong to Bugeia Lane (Class 2)
  • Lucas Valley Road, Los Gamos Road to Las Gallinas Road (Class 2)
  • Kent Avenue, Polar Avenue (County-maintained limit) to College Avenue (Class 3)
  • Novato Boulevard, Point Reyes-Petaluma east for 4 miles (Class 3)
  • Seminary Drive, Picardo Road to Gilbert Drive (Class 3)
Note that Class 2 facilities indicate a bike lane, and that Class 3 facilities indicate a shared-use road (typically signing and sometimes Sharrows where there is parking on the right side of the road).
