Marin County Bike Commuter of the Year award announced Posted: 2009-06-04 Every year, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's Bike Commuter of the Year award honors one bicyclist from each of the nine Bay Area counties who has shown "exemplary commitment" to bicycling. Marin County's 2009 Bike Commuter of the Year is 9 year-old Clay Kauffman. A third grader at Dixie Elementary School, this year Clay rode his bike to school every single day, rain or shine, for the one and a half mile round trip in Lucas Valley. You can read more about Clay's story in this Marin I-J article. You can also see Clay and his trusty black Specialized bike here on the Marin County Bicycle Coalition website. He was given the honor on May 14th at the Bike To Work Day celebration at Mike's Bikes in Sausalito. The WalkBikeMarin team congratulates Clay for his hard work and dedication that serves as a bold example for all of Marin County. Press Room |
