School Improvement Funding Received by County

Posted: 2009-08-14

Marin County has received a state Safe Routes to School Program grant from Caltrans. The project will construct 2200 feet of pedestrian improvements along the south side of Evergreen Avenue and the west side of Melrose Avenue, from Montford Avenue to Evergreen Avenue, in the unincorporated Homestead Valley area, near the City of Mill Valley to improve access for students to Marin Horizon School.  This project will link to existing pedestrian improvements in the City of Mill Valley.

The $900,000 grant will fund the majority of the costs for the estimated $1,100,000 project.   After receipt of grant documents and completion of preliminary design work, a community meeting will be held to discuss the project details, likely in late 2010.
