Lucky graduate student and avid bicyclist, Justin Sos of San Rafael, won a Globe Vienna 3-Disc bicycle generously donated to the Department of Public Works' Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Program (NTPP) by Mike's Bikes of San Rafael!
Justin Sos was just one of 300+ entrants in the NTPP/WalkBikeMarin.org's bicycle giveaway. Bicyclists from all over Northern California had to answer a 6-question survey in order to be eligible to win. Questions such as, "Which two cities does the Cal Park Tunnel connect"? were asked, and a whopping 75% of all entrants knew the correct answer to that particular question! (It's San Rafael and Larkspur.)
After learning that he'd won the Globe Vienna by random drawing Fourth of July week, he explained, "I bicycle for recreation, work, errands, and to visit friends. Much of the time, it is need-based and I need to get somewher or pick up something. Other times, I go mountain biking and enjoy the great recreation and mountain biking trains in Marin. I find it fun to ride a bicycle and it is great exercise.
One of my favorite rides is riding up to the Nike Missle site from China Camp and following the ridge to the microwave towers. There are places where you can see the Richmond-San Rafael, Bay, and Golden Gate bridges with San Francisco, Oakland, and Mt. Tam in the distance."
Special thanks again to Mike's Bikes of San Rafael for collaborating with NTPP/WalkBikeMarin.org once again for the Marin County Fair during the Fourth of July weekend, 2011!
