New bike/ped bridge helps kids get to school in Fairfax Posted: 2007-05-18 A new bicycle and pedestrian bridge is opening today parallel to the Manor Circle Bridge at Marin Road. The new bridge, made of wood and steel, will help children get to school without having to cross the busy, car-filled old bridge. The bridge project also includes bus shelters, sidewalks, crosswalks and pedestrian-activated signals. The project was funded by the state Safe Routes to School program, the City of Fairfax, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, and the Transportation Authority of Marin.
