Safe Routes to Schools is preparing for “kidical mass”

Students from more than 44 Marin County schools are gearing up to bike and walk on October 5, 2011, which is International Walk and Roll to School Day.   Safe Routes to Schools is preparing for “kidical mass” in Marin as children and parents take to the streets while enjoying the social benefits of traveling in groups to reduce car trips.

Colorful bookmarks (from Safe Routes to Schools) and Clif Kid Fruit Twists (donated by Clif Kid) will be given away to all students who walk, bike, carpool or take the bus on October 5th.

Many towns are planning police and fire truck escorts on the morning of October 5th. For more information to become involved in this green travel day, please contact Laura Kelly, Volunteer Liaison for Safe Routes to Schools at (415) 456-2369 ext. 2#.
