GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE, HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT UPDATE REGARDING PLANNED PICKETING AND POTENTIAL OCCUPY OAKLAND ACTIVITIES ON MAY 1, 2012 AT GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE

Many of the unions that represent employees at the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (GGBHTD) come together and collectively negotiate. This group, known as the Union Coalition, represents 375 employees in 25 different bargaining units. The Union Coalition has announced that they will engage in a May Day Rally on May 1st from 7 am to 10 am (see the Rally flyer).

The Union Coalition has been engaged in non-disruptive, informational picketing over the last several months. It has come to the GGBHTD’s attention that the Union Coalition may be partnering with Occupy Oakland with respect to their May 1st event.
