Alexander Avenue Construction Continues Thru October

Posted: 2013-05-28

Work has begun on a portion of Alexander Avenue in Fort Baker, also known as the Sausalito Lateral, which will improve traffic circulation and riding conditions for cyclists.  The project is widening the roadway between the Highway 101 northbound ramps and Danes Drive to provide bike lanes on Alexander and improving visibility and access at the Danes Drive intersection which provides access to the "5-minute tunnel" to Fort Cronkhite.  The work began February 25 and will continue through October. Cyclists should expect periodic delays while the work is occurring.  More information on this project, maps, and other construction activities in Fort Baker and Fort Cronkhite scheduled for this year can be found at the Project Headlands website
