Press Room Sir Francis Drake/Whites Hill Improvements Completed Posted: 2020-06-15 Improvements to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard between the Brown Bridge and Fairfax town limits for cyclists have been completed.  The project widened the roadway between Baywood Canyon and the Fairfax limits to provide for an eastbound bike lane starting at Baywood Canyon at the bottom of Whites Hill that connects to the existing bike lane on Sir Francis Drake that continues through Fairfax.  In the westbound direction, the bike lane extends from Fairfax and up the Whites Hill grade to the Brown Bridge and then continues into the San Geronimo Valley.  The entire roadway has been repaved while the downhill lane and shoulder also received a high-friction treatment to improve traction and reduce wheel slippage, particularly when the pavement is wet.  Additional signage has been provided advising of the bike lanes along with curve and downill speed warnng signs, plus "Bikes Allowed Full Use of Lane" signage in the downhill direction to advise motorists that cyclists may be in the roadway.  Press Room
