Public meeting re: proposed bridge in Point Reyes Park on 5/14

Posted: 2008-05-09

The National Parks Service is considering ways to provide further public access to connect the communities of Point Reyes Station and Inverness Park in Point Reyes National Seashore. They are currently considering either a Levee Road trail or constructing a non-vehicular bridge across Lagunitas Creek to connect Point Reyes Station to White House Pool County Park.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2008, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., there will be a public meeting at the Dance Palace in Point Reyes Station to discuss the proposed public access bridge.

Discussion will include what type of bridge could work and how to meet various limitations/requirements. A number of planning constraints and regulatory requirements, including flood conveyance, endangered species, Americans with Disabilities Act access, and geotechnical issues have been identified as part of this initial investigation. The conceptual work to date has been conducted to see what is feasible, what it might look like, and what would it generally cost.
