Larkspur Ferry Terminal pathway to be rebuilt

Posted: 2008-07-16

The perimeter pathway at the Larkspur Ferry Terminal, while technically part of the San Francisco Bay Trail, has not been accessible to walkers and bicyclists over the last few years due to use as overflow ferry parking. The Bay Conservation and Development Commission, in partnership with the Golden Gate Bridge District, recently announced that the pathway will be rebuilt and restored to public use.

Planned improvements include:

  • A cleared pathway around the entire terminal
  • Improved signage for both motorists and pathway users
  • Improved bicycle parking at the Ferry Terminal
  • Trimming trees and removing a concrete wall to enhance bay views
  • Installing new benches
  • A new bridge that will allow cyclists to enter from the Sir Francis Drake multi-use pathway with no driveway conflicts

Construction will begin this month and is scheduled for completion in early 2009.
