SMART passage means more pathways in Marin Posted: 2008-11-06 On Election Day this Tuesday, Marin and Sonoma County voters approved plans for the SMART (Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit) passenger train and pathway project to connect Cloverdale and Larkspur. The measure received 69.5% support in the two counties. The 70-mile train line, which will parallel Highway 101, will be accompanied by a bicycle/pedestrian pathway, linking the Wine Country with Marin, and on to San Francisco (via the Larkspur Ferry). Construction is expected to begin in 2011 and completed in 2014. More information available in this fact sheet [PDF]. Press Room |
